Artistic Inspirations, cont.

As I move down the list of artists that inspire my creativity, I find that it really fans my artistic flames. It is not only the greatness that I see in their artwork, but the fulfillment it brings to me in sharing their art with others that really uplifts me.

John Null – My background of wood-working and metal-working really leads me to appreciate how organic and fluid his creations are.

Pixel Pancho – I saw this artists work at a show in Richmond, and it blew me away. His robotic paintings depicting decaying and dilapidated characters conveyed a sense of forlorn, pride, and resistance. I’m especially partial to his comic book, movie, and animal characters.

Artistic Inspirations

As I find artists that inspire me and motivate me to work on bringing my art to the next level, I’ll be sure to list them and their websites here:

Ed Mell – Ed Mell is at the top of my list for favorite living artists. His art immediately brings me back home to the Southwest and always draws me into his landscapes that are full of dramatic line and angular intensity.

The Surgeon – Details

At this point, the details are methodically applied according to design. This is the most difficult area to maintain the discipline of the concept and stay focused on not allowing myself to be emotionally guided through the process.

The Surgeon – Building Depth

Once the foundation is laid, the depth is created by adding layer upon layer of alternating colors primarily with sponge techniques. There is some brush usage, but it is mostly to define edges and borders.

“The Surgeon” – Concept

“The Surgeon” is based on the notion of the Art as a patient, as an entity that is not necessarily an extension of myself and being. Rather, I am taking the approach of working on a piece that is a disconnected work with the focus on segmenting the art into steps that culminate into the final piece.

When I piece together a concept for a customer, I am able to draw together various color schemes, textures, patterns, controls, materials, and layers. From this collection of parts and processes, and I am to stitch together a creation that lives and evolves with every viewer and interaction. This can be said about a majority of my abstract works, but this piece in particular I am concentrating on each process from a technical standpoint and a bit more of an disconnected emotional aspect.

The G. Alexander Sample Collection of Art

Greetings! Thank you for visiting my new website. This is the next step in creating a way to provide an interactive experience for knowing and understanding my artwork. It is my ultimate goal to build a website that includes an overview of the evolution of my artwork since 2000, educate viewers on the process of Reverse-Painting by providing instruction and demonstration videos, adding a shopping cart to allow for the purchase of original artwork & limited edition prints, links to interesting artists, and create a forum that will provide feedback, conversation, and engagement into the world of my artwork. Initially, I will post images. We will see how things progress from there!
